So genealogy is your passion? Do you want to use your money wisely? In the vast world of online genealogy, what subscription sites are worth the money? What is the best genealogy software to purchase to organize one’s family tree? Are some Genealogy DNA Projects better than others?  This site will be dedicated to pursuing the answer to these questions.

As a passionate life-long genealogist and a media specialist/librarian to boot, I’m combining talents to provide my two cents worth and links to great online genealogy resources.  This site’s purpose is to guide you to the best on the net in genealogy.

I want to thank everyone whom has participated in such positive feedback on the site.  In an effort to keep the most practical comments, I will now be limiting comments mainly to the posts that give your opinion on various genealogy resources on the net.   We want this site to be as effective as possible in leading you to quality online resources.   Thanks for your participation.

I’m a direct descendant of Alanson Kenyon Coats and his wife Alma L. Main both born in Wirt, Allegany, NY. They were my 3rd Great Grandparents. Should I contact you at ancestrees@gmail.com ?

    Thank you!

The genealogy website, kindredkonnections.com, no longer exists. Its successor, MyTrees.com, has a whole new look-and-feel with even more data than the old kindredkonnections.com. The new interface is streamlined and easy to use. We highly recommend that you visit MyTrees.com.

  3. Do you have a Facebook page or Twitter? Would love to follow you there, I’m on my iPhone and love reading your stuff!

    • Linda Coate says:

Yes, I have a twitter feed. You can follow me by clicking the “follow” button above this comment section. You can also tweet me or comment on your facebook with my facebook link. Thanks!

Are you the one adding commens for example A.D.Coate?
Census calls him David and it’s Davis. I am direct descendant of Coate, Heller, Luker, Murphy on my dad’s side.

Elizabeth Murphy Cann, who is credited for some of the Coate ancestry info, died in 2005–she was my aunt.

        Hoping you will reply,

        • Linda Coate says:

Hi Betty, What site did you find A.D. Coate on? I can’t tell if I was the person who gave info on him unless I know what site you were using. Sorry to here that Elizabeth Murphy Cann passed. I’m fairly certain I used her as one of my many sources at http://www.ancestrees.com.

  8. Hey I found this website to be really interesting! Bookmarked!

  9. What a great web log. I spend hours on the net reading blogs, about tons of various subjects. I have to first of all give praise to whoever created your theme and second of all to you for writing what i can only describe as an fabulous article. I honestly believe there is a skill to writing articles that only very few posses and honestly you got it. The combining of demonstrative and upper-class content is by all odds super rare with the astronomic amount of blogs on the cyberspace.

  10. Terrific piece of writing, much of the data was particularly useful.

  11. In fact your creative writing abilities have inspired me to start my own Blog.

  12. Concise and written well, thanks much for the info

  13. I’ve been looking everywhere for this! Thank goodness I found it on Bing.

I have been browsing online more than three hours today, yet I never found any interesting article like yours. In my view, if all website owners and bloggers made good content as you did, the web would be a lot more useful than ever before.

  15. Superb piece of writing, a lot of the information was quite helpful.

  16. Absolutely outstanding information and very well written, thank you very much for this.

What a great site. Needed and overdue. I like the picture of the grandparents, and I know that they would like this picture. I personally use the software RootsMagic. I love it. It has a great web search built in and searches on the active person on your screen. Of course, I am still learning. I have only been researching actively for 17 years, so you have a head start on me. Keep up the good work. Love the site and your insight!

Linda, I use PAF 5.0 genealogy program. Also belong to the Andrew Lamont Young Society. We trace our Scottish roots back to Andrew who was born circa 1644 at Toward Castle near Dunoon. We have a DNA project http://www.lamont-young.com/lamont/ through family tree DNA.

    • Linda Coate says:

Yes, Brian. We might be related. I’m just not as sure on the Young line as I’m descended through James Young of Naked Creek. In any case, what do you like or don’t like about PAF? Isn’t FamilyTreeDNA a great company?
